JCP Shii holds talks with Vietnam Peace Committee vice chair Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on November 24 met with Vietnam Peace Committee Vice President Vo Anh Tuan in the Diet. Vo Anh Tuan was visiting Japan at the invitation of a Japanese citizen group led by Oda Makoto. Mentioning the historic cooperative relations for friendship and peace between the Japanese and Vietnamese communist parties, Vo Anh Tuan stressed the need to increase joint efforts in order to eliminate wars and nuclear weapons. He also talked about the Vietnamese people's damage caused by the Agent Orange/dioxin that U.S. forces used extensively during the Vietnam War. Shii welcomed Vo Anh Tuan's visit and emphasized the historical significance of the Vietnamese people's national liberation war. He expressed deep solidarity with the Vietnamese people in the struggle against the defoliant. Both also exchanged views on how to develop the struggle in opposition to the Iraq War. (end) |
