'No-War Assembly' held to discuss Article 9 A speech assembly and symposium with the theme "Choose to not go to war and take advantage of the potential the Constitution's Article 9 has" was held on December 6 at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto with about 400 students, teachers, and various citizens attending. The main speakers were Miki Mutsuko and Oda Makoto, two of the nine public figures who established the "Article 9 Association" with the aim of helping to develop grassroots efforts in defense of the war-renouncing Article 9. This event was held as the university's "No-War Assembly" which takes place every December to renew the resolution to "refuse to take up arms instead of pens" on the basis of deep remorse the university has expressed for its cooperation with the military during World War II.
