 Civil education groups launch 'Article 9 Association' The 54-member Liaison Council of Civil Educational and Research Organizations launched its "Article 9 Association" on December 5 in Tokyo. The groups' meeting issued a statement expressing its opposition to militarism in education, stating that adverse revision of the Constitution and the Fundamental Law of Education is intended to force children and teachers into the same "spiritual mold" established by the "authorities." With their slogan "Teachers will not send their children to battleground!," the meeting confirmed its commitment to the campaign to safeguard both the Constitution and the Fundamental Law of Education.
