Stick to peaceful talks for 'one China': JCP on anti-secession law China's National People's Congress on March 14 enacted the anti-secession law making it clear that China will not tolerate Taiwan's independence. Asked to comment on this legislation at a press conference on the same day, Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi emphasized the importance of sticking to the 'one China' policy and 'peaceful talks.' Pointing out that the "one-China" policy is internationally accepted, he said, "The JCP has used every occasion to make it clear to China that it is important to gain Taiwan residents' support and seek a solution through peaceful talks." The law, with a positive policy of "peaceful national reunification," states that "in the event that the Taiwan independence secessionist forces should act to cause Taiwan's secession from China, the Chinese government would employ non-peaceful means and other necessary measures."
