JCP Shii receives Slovak ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 17 met with the ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Japan, Peter Vrsansky at the JCP Headquarters in Tokyo.

The ambassador, who took up his post in January, asked Shii about the JCP's policies dealing with major domestic and international issues.

The JCP chair explained that the JCP firmly opposed the former Soviet Union's invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.

He also explained that to defend Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is what a wide range of Japanese people demand, as well as citizens of Asian countries who suffered under the Japanese military invasion.

Vrsansky and Shii both expressed their hope to further develop their relationship. (end)
