Anti-nuclear citizens' international meeting will precede 2005 World Conference A "No more Hiroshimas and Nagasakis international citizens conference" will be held in Tokyo on July 29 through 31, just before the 2005 World Conference against A and H Bombs in early August. This was announced by the organizing committee comprised of the Japan Council against a and H Bombs (Gensuikyo), the Japanese Confederation of A-Bomb Sufferers Organizations (Hidankyo), and the Japan Seinendan Council, at a news conference in Tokyo on June 8. The main theme is "Unraveling the damage of the atom-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki." Participants will discuss the criminal nature of nuclear bombs, whether the war has justified the dropping of the atom bombs, and the call for outlawing nuclear weapons. Hibakusha in South Korea and the second-generation hibakusha will speak in a subgroup on hibakusha's demands and rights. On the final day, a rally marking the 60th anniversary and a peace march will take place. Akahata June 9, 2005 |
