Fuwa meets with Syrian ambassador to Japan Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo on June 20 received Syrian Ambassador to Japan Kahatan Al-Syoufi at the JCP head office. The ambassador talked about the recent congress of the ruling Arab Baath Socialist Party of Syria, Syria's position on the Arab-Israel conflict, the Iraq War, Syria's relations with Lebanon, and the related U.S. moves. Saying that every country has its unique history, Fuwa pointed out that how a country's systems should be changed is a matter to be dealt with by its own people. He added that the world today won't allow any attempt to remodel the Middle East by using war-torn Iraq as a threat. The two exchanged opinions over the Syrian situation and Japan's foreign policy toward the Middle East. Japanese Communist Party International Bureau Director Ogata Yasuo and Secretary Mohammad Al-Oumurani were also present at the talks. -- Akahata June 21, 2005 |
