War isn't the way to stop terrorists: Shii Japanese Communist Party Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo in an interview by NHK broadcast on July 10 emphasized that efforts to eradicate terrorism must rely on the force of law and police based on international law and in defense of human rights. After expressing sympathy with the victims of the tragedy in London, Shii emphasized that war can never be the way to eradicate terrorism. That's why the G-8 leaders agreed to suppress terrorism by using judicial and police powers while securing human rights based on the U.N. Charter and international law, he added. Shii also said, "It is very important that war cannot be the way to stop terrorism." Referring to the worsening situation in Iraq, Shii said that the SDF be immediately withdrawn from Iraq because the presence of foreign troops there is a factor that worsens the situation in the country. JCP Ichida visits British Embassy Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on July 11 met with Charg?d'affaires Alastair Morgan at the British Embassy in Tokyo to express his sympathy for the victims of the terror bombings. Ichida said, "On behalf of the JCP, I offer sincere our sympathy to those who fell victims to the terrorist attacks and their families. Terrorism must not be condoned for any reason." - Akahata, July 12, 2005 |
