Fuwa on publishing his postwar history with Shinchosha "My postwar 60 years: Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair's testimony" by Tetsuzo Fuwa, published by Shinchosha, a major Japanese publishing house, will be on sale from August 23. Shinchosha held a press conference in Tokyo with Fuwa on August 18. Explaining how this apparently "unexpected" combination of the author and the publisher produced results, Shichosha's publication planning director said, "The JCP has never been in government for the 60 postwar years. It has also been out of the political main stream. This may have given the party an insight into the period. I think this book will provide readers with food for thought about the 60 years after the war's end." The book is made up of 14 topics related to experiences Fuwa has had during these years, not based on strict chronological order. At the press conference Fuwa said that he debated with 18 prime ministers in the Diet, but that Prime Minister Koizumi Jun'ichiro is extraordinary among them in that he is destroying even the conservative party's political basis. -- Akahata, August 19, 2005 |
