Women's forum calls for nuclear weapons to be eliminated The 2005 women's forum to eliminate nuclear weapons was held on August 5 in Hiroshima prefectural gymnasium in Hiroshima City, with the participation of women calling for children to inherit a peaceful world without nuclear weapons or wars. Kubo Mitsuko, who is a victim of the atomic bomb, told of her experience of having a blood sample taken by the U.S. Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). She said that later she came to know that the United States used Hibakusha (A-bomb victims) as guinea pigs. She added, "In America, there may be many people who think that peace will not come as long as they are obeying the U.S. President.I want to join hands with these people." -- Akahata, August 6, 2005 |
