Corporate workers' salary reduced for 7 years straight A National Tax Agency survey shows that private sector employees' average annual salary in 2004 was 4.388 million yen, a decrease of 51,000 yen from the previous year. The decrease was for the seventh consecutive year. The Agency's research also found that the number of private salaried workers in 2004 was 4.453 million, 131 thousand fewer than the previous year. The number went down for three straight years. The research confirmed that the government's claim that the economy is on a recovery track is not reflected in workers' salaries. -- Akahata, September 29, 2005 |
