Government to cut public servants' salary The Koizumi cabinet on September 28 approved a plan to cut national public servants' salary. It will submit a bill to revise their salary system in the current Diet session. The bill, if enacted, will decrease government workers' salary in FY2005 by 0.1 percent (4,000 yen). Bannai Mitsuo, secretary-general of the National Confederation of Trade Unions on the same day issued a statement in protest against the government plan to reduce employees' salary. He criticized the government for making public servants a scapegoat for the Koizumi cabinet's "structural reform." -- Akahata, September 29, 2005 |
