LDP Takebe says emperor is Japan's center Liberal Democratic Party Secretary General Takebe Tsutomu said on December 5, "Japan is an emperor-centric nation. Its national character depends on the center being stable and everyone being willing to support it." Takebe made this remark at a party held in Ibaraki's Mito City for Yamaguchi Buhei, head of the Federation of Ibaraki Prefecture LDP Branches and Ibaraki Prefectural Assembly member. He went on to say, "Ibaraki prefectural politics are advancing because they center around Mr' Yamaguchi, a great man, so is everyone supporting him. All of Japan should follow the same way." In May 2000, LDP member and then prime minister Mori Yoshiro faced severe criticism from inside and outside Japan by stating, "Japan is a divine nation with the emperor at its center." - Akahata, December 6, 2005 |
