Residents protest against U.S. Marine live-fire training On January 22 in Oita Prefecture, about 150 residents converged on the Self-Defense Forces Hijudai training field to protest against live-fire exercises the U.S. Marine Corps plan to conduct there from January 30. On the same day, about 200 U.S. Marines arrived at the SDF Hijudai training field from Okinawa. It is the 6th time for the U.S. Marine Corps to use the SDF base to hold the live-fire exercises since it was relocated from Okinawa. - Akahata, January 23, 2006 |
