Peace organizations urge Tokyo governor to oppose U.S. deployment of nuclear aircraft carrier to Yokosuka Stressing that there are widespread concerns about the danger of radioactive accidents that may occur with the deployment of a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to U.S. Yokosuka Naval Base in Kanagawa Prefecture planned for 2008, two peace organizations on January 31 requested the Tokyo governor to express his opposition to the deployment plan. Representatives from the Tokyo Council against A and H Bombs and the Tokyo Association for a Non-Nuclear Government on January 31 visited the Tokyo Metropolitan office, and demanded that Governor Ishihara Shintaro express opposition to the plan so that the safety of the residents of Tokyo will be ensured. - Akahata, February 2, 2006 |
