JCP and SDP to hold talks on cooperation The Social Democratic Party has accepted a Japanese Communist Party proposal for talks on a joint struggle to stop constitutional revision. SDP Chair Fukushima Mizuho, Vice-chair Fuchigami Sadao, and two other SDP executives on February 13 visited the JCP in the Diet Building and introduced the new SDP leaderships to JCP Chair Shii Kazuo, Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi, and Diet Policy Commission Chair Kokuta Keiji Fukushima said, "We are willing to develop a joint struggle with the JCP against the Koizumi government's structural reform policy and on issues related to peace." This was in reply to the JCP proposal made on January 23 to hold talks between the two parties with the aim of establishing a common front in the struggle to block adverse constitutional revision. The JCP leaders welcomed this SDP response. - Akahata, February 14, 2006 |
