JCP thanks Tunisian ambassador for coming to Congress

Japanese Communist Party Vice-Chair Ogata Yasuo (JCP International Bureau director) on February 17 held talks with Tunisian Ambassador to Japan Salah Hannachi at the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Tokyo.

On behalf of the JCP, Ogata expressed gratitude to the Tunisian delegation, including Faouzi Aouam of the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RCD) and Counselor of the Tunisian Embassy Trek Amri for attending the JCP 24th Congress held early this year.

Hannachi congratulated Ogata on the success of the Congress, and said that it was a significant opportunity for the Tunisian delegation to understand the JCP and deepen relations between the RCD and the JCP.

Ogata and Hannachi also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, including Palestine and Israel, the ongoing controversy over caricatures of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, and development issues in Africa.

They agreed that to have dialogues between cultures and religions for peaceful coexistence has become more important than ever.
