Promise of stronger 'discipline' does not end U.S. military crimes

A sailor from the U.S. Yokosuka Naval Base was arrested by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police on February 19 on charges of using violence on a shop clerk, inflicting him with injuries.

A crew member of the U.S. aircraft-carrier Kitty Hawk was also arrested on charges of fraud by not paying taxi fare and fleeing.

The U.S. Yokosuka Base commander had promised to maintain discipline among military personnel following the prosecution of another Kitty Hawk crew member for murdering a woman in January. However, the recent two crimes show that the promise for discipline had no effect at all.
