JCP talks with people of faith The Japanese Communist Party and people of religious faiths had a meeting on April 27 in Kobe City, in which 103 religious people took part. The meeting was called by an organizing committee consisting of Buddhists, Christians, and Tenrikyo people. JCP Social Science Institute Vice-Director Yamaguchi Tomio stressed the world significance of the war-renouncing Article 9 of the Constitution, and pointed out the prospect for achieving a majority in favor of defending the Constitution. Yamaguchi said, "Working together, overcoming differences of thought, will bring about an enormous power to move the society." Participants expressed their opinions as follows: I don't hesitate to work with the JCP on such issues as defending Article 9 of the Constitution, and I want the JCP and people of faith to unite in opposition to the misdeed of adversely revising the Constitution. A participant frankly requested the JCP to make more efforts to reach many more people who still do not know about the policies of the JCP. - Akahata, April 28, 2006 |
