JCP May Day slogans

The Japanese Communist Party's slogans for the 77th May Day celebration are as follows:

- Stop the Koizumi 'reform' allowing the strong to prey on the weak that widens disparities and increase poverty.

Secure stable jobs and working conditions with regard for human dignity; end forced overtime work without pay and rid workplaces of illegal labor practices.

Give young people jobs and hope; large corporations must fulfill their social responsibilities; let us create an economy with rules.

- No major adverse "medical reform" that will force people to pay more and undermine the universal public health insurance system; provide everyone with reliable medical services without worrying about charges; prevent major increases in the consumption tax and other regressive taxes.

- We oppose adverse revision of the Constitution and a national referendum bill; let us increase the grassroots movement to defend Article 9; we oppose adverse revision of the Fundamental Law of Education.

Stop the eulogy of Japan's war of aggression and colonization; for friendship and exchanges with peoples of Asia.

- Cancel the Japan-U.S. agreement to impose the burdens of strengthened U.S. military bases on Japan; the United States must stop its illegal occupation of Iraq; the Japanese Self-Defense Forces must immediately withdraw from Iraq; get nuclear weapons abolished now; let us abrogate the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty.

- End government policies subservient to the United States and business circles in order to build a new Japan in which the people are the key players; help the Japanese Communist Party, the reliable opposition, to advance.
