JCP establishes taskforce for Java quake relief The Japanese Communist Party established in the Central Committee a taskforce on the big earthquake that occurred on May 27 in Java, Indonesia. JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi at a press conference on May 29 announced that JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo heads the task force to provide support by collecting donations in and out of the party. Ichida pointed out that the need is for the Japanese government to help save the lives of quake sufferers as well as to provide them with medical services and basic necessities in cooperation with the United Nations, international humanitarian organizations, and NGOs. - Akahata, May 30, 2006 |
