JCP Shii criticizes conspiracy bill At a press conference on June 1, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo called for the conspiracy crime bill to be withdrawn when he commented on the negotiation between the Liberal Democratic Party and the opposition Democratic Party over amending the conspiracy bill. He said, "The issue is that the conspiracy bill is designed to change the present criminal laws to make it possible to convict a person for his/her thought or belief instead of acts. Unless this aim is renounced, the crucial defect of the bill cannot be corrected with any 'amendments'." - Akahata, June 2, 2006 |
