Indonesian president thanks to JCP chair's telegram of sympathy

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo sent a wire of sympathy on May 29 to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, expressing his sympathy for the victims of the major earthquake that hit Indonesia in May. Shii received a reply on June 23 from the president via the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo. The full text of the reply is as follows:

Dear Sir,

I am most appreciative for your kind and sympathetic message sent to me over the massive earthquake in Yogyakarta and central Java which has resulted in utter devastation and immense suffering.

I am convinced that your expression of genuine sympathy and condolences will surely be a source of consolation to the bereaved families of the victims.
