Education minister and LDP Policy Research Council Chair send congratulatory cable to Moonies

Chief Cabinet Secretary Abe Shinzo and former Justice Minister Yasuoka Koji are come under criticism for sending congratulatory telegrams to the Moonies (Unification Church) on their mass weddings held in Japan in May.

It was further made known that more government officials, including Education and Science Minister Kosaka Kenji as well as Liberal Democratic Party Policy Research Council Chair Nakagawa Hidenao, sent telegrams to the Unification Church.

The Unification Church is notorious for its manipulative sales called "spiritual sales" and other unscrupulous activities. It is said that many other present and former cabinet ministers and Dietmembers of the LDP and the Democratic Party of Japan have sent congratulatory messages to the mass weddings.

A lawyer defending the victims of the spiritual sales criticized these Dietmembers for helping to promote the spiritual sales and other questionable activities by sending cables.
