Mexican and Egyptian government representatives to attend World Conference against A & H Bombs The Organizing Committee of the World Conference against A & H Bombs has announced that representatives of the governments of Mexico and Egypt will take part in the 2006 World Conference. The 2006 World Conference will be held in Hiroshima and Nagasaki cities in August with the main theme, "A Nuclear Weapons-free, Peaceful and Just World." According to the Organizing Committee, it will be attended by Ulises Canchola, the director general for the United Nations System of the Foreign Ministry of Mexico, and Ihab Fawzy, deputy assistant minister for international political affairs and disarmament of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. Mexico and Egypt are members of the New Agenda Coalition that calls for the elimination of nuclear weapons. The Organizing Committee is strengthening its effort to bring success to this year's World Conference in cooperation with representatives of various governments, municipalities, and NGOs in order to build up the global momentum for the abolition of nuclear weapons. - Akahata, June 27, 2006 |
