JCP sends delegation to Congress of Communist Party of Venezuela The Japanese Communist Party for the first time sent its delegation to the 12th Congress of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) held on July 20-24 in Caracas. The JCP delegation, consisting of Secretariat member and International Bureau Deputy Director Kanda Yonezo and International Bureau staff member Sugawara Hiraku, handed the PCV a message of the JCP Central Committee. The JCP's message stated as follows: "In South America, progressive governments have been established one after another, calling for political and economic independence from U.S. domination and for a shift from neo-liberal policies. This great current for social progress is spreading throughout the continent. We pay close attention to the future course of the Venezuelan revolution which plays an important role in the current. In the Venezuelan revolution, the government has been supported by the majority of people as expressed in the presidential elections and the plebiscite, and has carried out programs to enable all citizens to benefit from its natural resources and wealth in such areas as education, social welfare services, and agriculture. Transformation through elections has become a common feature that characterizes all of Latin America." - Akahata, July 22, 2006 |
