Nippon Steel workers claim for remedy of anti-JCP labor control Nine workers of Nippon Steel group companies on December 7 filed a complaint with a local labor standards inspection office in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, demanding that it instruct these companies to stop discriminating against Japanese Communist Party members. As evidence that Nippon Steel Corp. has discriminated against workers who are JCP member, they submitted to the inspection office a blacklist obtained by a whistle-blower. The documents show that the company has checked on the activities of all JCP members in the companies, including conversations in the workplace, handing out of JCP leaflets in local communities, and participation in JCP gatherings. The nine workers argued that using discriminatory practices against the JCP members who work hard to improve working conditions, the company is attempting to force all workers to not complain about the company. The nine are workers of Nippon Steel Yawata Works, Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd., and Nippon Steel Chemical Co., Ltd. These companies still discriminate against JCP members in wages and promotions, although they promised to implement fair and just treatment after the Kobe District Court last December condemned those companies for their anti-JCP labor control and discrimination practices. - Akahata, December 8, 2006 |
