Shii calls for struggle against implementation of adversely revised education law

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 15, when the bill to adversely revise the Fundamental Law of Education was forcibly enacted in the Upper House, called for increased struggle in opposition to the new law and for blocking the compulsion of implementing it in schools.

In front of about 850 participants at a rally outside the Diet building, Shii criticized the forcible enactment of the bill by calling it "a historical outrage that has left a major blemish on the history of the Diet and of the education."

Shii stated, "Our future struggle depends on how we can make use of the Constitution. The struggle to defend the Constitution, therefore, will become more important than before."

The JCP Chair concluded his speech by saying, "The expansion throughout the country of the movement in opposition to the adverse revision of the education law is a great asset to the success of our future struggle. With this confidence, let us keep on struggling."
