Fuwa gives 1st round of lectures on studying scientific socialism to 400 JCP members The first round of lectures on the study of scientific socialism with Fuwa Tetsuzo, the director of the Japanese Communist Party's Social Science Institute, concluded in the JCP head office on December 12. Some 400 JCP members, mainly full-time activists in the Tokyo metropolitan area, studied the world view using Engels's "Ludwig Feuerbach" as a textbook for the course composed of five meetings which began on November 14. Explaining chapter by chapter the content of "Ludwig Feuerbach," Fuwa elucidated in detail the history that Marx and Engels had developed concerning their theory on materialism, dialectics, and historical materialism. In the light of advancements in science and changes in social conditions that have occurred in the 120 years since the book was written, Fuwa raised many fresh questions such as how to grasp materialism, dialectics, and historical materialism in the present-day world and what it means to make these theories relevant today. After the last meeting closed, a participant said, "I want to make use of what I have learned in the course, and will study the works of Marx and Engels with renewed enthusiasm." The next round of lectures that will deal with other themes will be held after the two elections next year. - Akahata, December 14, 2006 |
