Ogata meets with CPV delegation

 

   Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo met with an 18-member Communist Party of Vietnam delegation led by Pham Van Tho, CPV Central Committee member and Commission for Organization vice chair, on May 29 at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

 

   Congratulating each other on the success of talks in January between JCP Chair Shii Kazuo and CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh as well as other members of the CPV leadership, Ogata and Tho confirmed the significance of the new relationship between the two parties in 21st century to increase cooperation for peace in Asia and the rest of the world.

 

   Referring to Southeast Asia that is moving forward towards a region of peace based on the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), Ogata pointed out the important role played in the region by Vietnam which is working on improving the “socialist-oriented market economy.”

 

   Tho expressed his gratitude for the JCP support for the Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War and for its understanding of Vietnam’s Doi Moi, the policy of advancing to socialism through a market economy.
