JCP delivers donation to quake victims

Japanese Communist Party Ishikawa Prefectural Committee on June 5 delivered 23.4 million yen, which the JCP had collected nationwide in support of victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on March 25, to the quake-hit prefecture and its seven municipalities.

At the prefectural government office, JCP Prefectural Committee Chair Akimoto Kunihiro and Prefectural Assembly member Onishi Yoko handed the donation to Vice Governor Yamagishi Isamu, who expressed his appreciation and said that the government will use the money to support victims.

The JCP representatives also visited Wajima City where the earthquake had caused the heaviest damage and gave the donation to Vice Mayor Oshita Yasuhiro.

Expressing appreciation for the contribution, Onishi said, gWe are making efforts in order for the residents to be able to resume a normal life as early as possible.h He also asked for the JCPfs cooperation in improving government measures to assist victims.

In the Diet, JCP members have called on the government to improve quake victim assistance measures, paving the way for creating a system to provide subsidies for the recovery of traditional handcraft industries in quake-hit areas.
