JCP holds speech assembly marking its 85th founding anniversary
About 2,400 people on August 9 attended a Japanese Communist Party speech assembly in Tokyo to mark its 85th founding anniversary. The JCP was founded on July 15, 1922.
JCP Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo spoke gon the results of the House of Councilors election, the emerging political situation, and the role of the JCPh (see separate item).
Former JCP Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo spoke on the theme, gThe 85 years of the JCP and the present stage of its developmenth (see separate item).
The assembly opened with the introduction of the three JCP members of the House of Councilors, who were returned to their seats in the July 29 election. In their short speeches Inoue Satoshi, Kami Tomoko, and Yamashita Yoshiki, stated their determination to work hard during the next six-year term in office.
Two JCP members who were elected to municipality heads during the past year, Moteki Yuji of Miyota Town in Nagano Prefecture and Yoritaka Hideo of Warabi City in Saitama Prefecture, spoke about how they are working in close cooperation of the residents to defend their interests. - Akahata, August 10, 2007
