Ogata holds talks with Grand National Party floor leader

   Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on August 22 held talks at the National Assembly building in Seoul with Floor Leader Kim Hyoung O of the opposition Grand National Party.

This was the second time that Kim had talks with the JCP. As the leading representative of the Grand National Party, he talked with a JCP delegation led by Chair Shii Kazuo last September when Shii visited Seoul to attend a general assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

   Kim and Ogata exchanged opinions on South Korea’s and Japan’s policies on North Korea and situations in Northeast Asia. Ogata answered Kim’s question concerning the JCP’s relations with North Korea and explained the policy of sovereign independence that the JCP has maintained for many years. He also talked about how the JCP sees the result of the recent House of Councilors election.                                    - Akahata, August 24, 2007
