Shii meets with Chinese Ambassador Wang

   Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on September 10 had a friendly conversation with Wang Yi, the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Japan who visited Shii at the Diet building to bid farewell.

   Recalling his three-year tenure, Wang said, “I have accomplished my mission to improve Japan-China relations owing to cooperation and support from the government and a wide range of people in Japan,” and expressed appreciation for the role the JCP played to achieve this end.

   Shii expressed his gratitude for Wang’s efforts and said he was glad to see the multifaceted development of relations between the JCP and the Communist Party of China.

   The JCP chair said, “In the 21st-century world, different civilizations and values should be able to coexist peacefully based on the U.N. Charter.” Ambassador Wang agreed with Shii and said that while promoting building a “harmonious society” in its domestic policy, China is calling on international society to create a “harmonious world.”                                                        - Akahata, September 11, 2007
