"In order to establish peace and stability in Northeast Asia including Japan, the urgent task now is for the Japanese government to strengthen its cooperation within the framework of the Six Party Talks and take a lead in bringing about a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula," Shii said.

 

JCP Shii in the Diet demands drastic change in policies

Shii grilled the prime minister on the issues of the increase in poverty and social gaps, financial sources of social welfare services, and the dispatch of the Self-Defense Forces in support of U.S. wars.

 About 3,500 people in Tokyo and 3,600 in Osaka marched in demonstration, shouting, "Withdraw the MSDF from the Indian Ocean! Make use of Article 9 to contribute to international peace!"
