Shii holds talks with Communist Party of Vietnam Politburo member
A Communist Party of Vietnam delegation headed by Politburo member Ho Duc Viet on October 9 visited the Japanese Communist Party head office in Tokyo and held talks with JCP Chair Shii Kazuo.
After conveying greetings from CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Viet referred to the talks between Manh and Shii last January in which both leaders agreed to advance bilateral relations to a higher stage.
Viet stated that in order to conduct theoretical exchanges between the two parties, one of the agreed points that gave shape to the agreement, the CPV will send its delegation to Japan in the latter half of November.
Shii expressed his pleasure over the development of bilateral relations since his visit to Vietnam today and stated, gAlthough construction of socialism is an issue for Vietnam today and a future issue for us, I am convinced that the theoretical exchanges will be beneficial for both parties.h
Viet explained about recent efforts in Vietnam to restructure the government and party organization as well as improve the economic situation.
Referring to his experiences in Vietnam in January, Shii stated that he is very interested in the development of democracy and socialist construction through a market economy in Vietnam.
Viet expressed his hope for exchanging views concerning those questions in the upcoming theoretical exchange meeting. - Akahata, October 10, 2007
