Shii meets with new Chinese ambassador
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on October 11 met with Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cui Tiankai at the JCP head office.
Cui pointed out that Japan-China relations are improving and expressed his hope that the JCP will play its valuable role as a party that has maintained a principled stance on historical issues and Taiwan issues. Cui said that he hopes to further develop good bilateral relations with the JCP.
Welcoming Cui, Shii stressed the importance of removing the root cause of adverse currents distorting historical facts in order to further advance good relations between the two countries, and stated that he would cooperate to build a regime of peace in northeast Asia through leading the Six-Party Talks to a success. He also expressed his hope for further developing the JCP-CPC theoretical exchanges.
Cui agreed with Shii, and pointed out the significance of theoretical exchanges for China that gives importance to theoretical advances. Cui also said that he would cooperate in efforts to establish a peace regime in northeast Asia. - Akahata, October 12, 2007
