Ichida meets with Vietnam workers union delegation

   Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi received a delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor led by President Dang Ngoc Tung at the JCP head office on December 11.

  The Vietnamese labor delegation was in Japan at the invitation of the National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren). Dang Ngoc Tung is also a member of Vietnam’s National Assembly (parliament) and Central Committee member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

   Citing the talks held between JCP Chair Shii Kazuo and CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in Hanoi, the theoretical discussion held in November between the two parties in Tokyo, and the talks between JCP Chair Shii and visiting Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet, Ichida said he is pleased to see JCP-CPV relations further developing along with improving relations between the two countries.

   In the meeting Ichida explained that the state of workers in Japan is much worse than in other advanced capitalist countries. He said that establishing work rules is not only in the interest of workers but has an important bearing on Japanese society and the general public. He also said it is essential that workers’ dignity is respected with the view of achieving socio-economic development.

Tung said he was glad that exchanges are developing on a regular basis between Zenroren and the VGCL as well as relations between the two peoples and between the CPV and the JCP.  Referring to the talks he had the previous day with Zenroren President Ban’nai Mitsuo, he said that the two labor leaders had agreed to further exchange information on each other’s struggles, develop bilateral cooperation on common issues such as the defense of workers’ rights, and encourage Japanese and Vietnamese industrial federations and local organizations to exchange delegations.
