JCP Ogata meets with Bolivian parliamentarian Salguero
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair and International Bureau Director Ogata Yasuo met on July 4 in Tokyo with Elizabeth Salguero, member of Boliviafs parliament.
Salguero was in Japan to attend the international parliamentary meeting related to the G8 Summit at Lake Toya in Hokkaido.
Last year, Ogata visited Bolivia and held talks with leaders of the Bolivian government and governing parties.
As a member of Boliviafs Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), the governing party of President Evo Moralesfs government, Salguero explained the tense situation in Bolivia between the government and opposition parties over the social reform program under Morales.
He referred to the referendum scheduled for August over the presidency of President Morales.
Ogata in reply explained the various JCP activities dealing with the issue of contingent workers as well as poverty and widening social inequalities. - Akahata, July 5, 2008
