JCP gives donation to Burma cyclone victims

Japanese Communist Party International Bureau Acting Director Nishiguchi Hikaru on July 29 handed 2,446,947 yen in donations to cyclone victims in Myanmar (Burma). Taniguchi Tomoko, the representative of the Japan Association of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), received the money at the JCP head office.

The JCP Central Committee on July 29 announced that it had ended its fund-raising for cyclone victims in Myanmar (Burma) and China’s Sichuan quake victims, which it had launched on May 15.

It collected 35,907,635 yen for the earthquake victims and 13,226,947 yen for the cyclone victims.

It donated the money in three installments to the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo and to the Japan Association of UNHCR. - Akahata, July 30, 2008
