JCP Dietmember meets with CPV delegation on legislative activities

A Communist Party of Vietnam delegation studying legislative activities in Japan met with Japanese Communist Party House of Councilors member Nihi Sohei on December 9 in the Diet.

The CPV delegation led by Nguyen Van Quyen, deputy secretary-general of the CPV Central Committee Office, was in Japan for research on Japanese legislative activities and the relationship between ruling and opposition parties.

Nihi explained how the JCP is working in parliament by giving priority to peoplefs rights and benefits.

gFor example, the JCP has many times made efforts to enact laws to help rebuild the lives of people affected by disasters such as earthquakes and landslides,h he said.

The JCP puts emphasis on the need to make efforts to arouse public awareness and increase citizensf involvement in social movements. gIn fact,h Nihi said, ga majority of petitions with signatures are sent to the JCP Dietmembersf Group because petitioners know that the JCP will take them up in the Diet.h

He also talked about the JCP stance towards the controversial healthcare insurance system for people aged 75 and older and the Worker Dispatch Law as well as the current political developments in the Diet.               - Akahata, December 10, 2008
