JCP Chair Shii holds talks with CPV External Relations Commission head Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 15 met with Tran Van Hang, the chairman of the Central External Relations Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the JCP head office. Welcoming Hang, Shii said that he is pleased to meet again with Hang since his last visit to Vietnam two years ago. After conveying a message to Shii from CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Hang stated that theoretical exchanges between the two parties have been productive and expressed his thanks to the JCP for its consistent and sincere support for the Vietnamese people since the days of the Vietnamese people's war against U.S. aggression. Shii asked Hang to convey his greetings to Manh, and stated that he is also pleased to see the further development in bilateral relations. Referring to the decisions of the recent CPV CC Plenum, Hang explained Vietnam's economic situation in the wake of the global economic crisis and efforts to overcome its effects. Shii stated that the present global financial crisis is a major issue of whether capitalism can actually survive. The theory of scientific socialism should be fully used to overcome the major built-in contradictions of contemporary capitalism, such as poverty, financial speculations, and environmental destruction. Hang expressed his hope for further theoretical exchanges to take place between the two parties regarding these issues. Concerning the present political situation in Japan, Shii stated that the Liberal Democratic Party government is at an impasse while the JCP is now a focus of public interest and attention. - Akahata, January 16, 2009 |
