U.S. servicemen arrested in Okinawa Okinawa Police on May 10 arrested a 20-year-old U.S. Marine, Ricardo Luis Ramirez, on the spot for interfering with a police officer in the act of duty. He is also suspected of being involved in a break-in. The police received an emergency call from a woman in Okinawa City, who said, "A foreigner has broken into my room." They rushed to her apartment and found in the apartment building a suspicious-looking man. The man assaulted one of the policemen. On the previous day, Okinawa Police arrested U.S. airman Shane Michael Sullivan, 29, on suspicion of attacking a taxi driver in Chatan Town. Hearing a cry for help, a woman living nearby made an emergency call to police, and police officers rushed to the site and caught the U.S. personnel red-handed. The police say that the two suspects were both drunk. - Akahata, May 10-11, 2009 |
