JCP's role as 'constructive opposition party' is gaining support
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo said, "Opinion polls suggest that the Democratic Party of Japan may win about 300 (out of 480) seats. Make no mistake, however. This tendency only represents the overwhelming rejection of the LDP-Komei government. It is not an expression of wholehearted support for DPJ policies and its political line. This is the important point to consider."

Independent diplomacy is pivotal to peace: Akahata editorial
The general election debate has been focused on what kind of policies should be implemented by a post-LDP-Komei government. While the Democratic Party of Japan calls for a tight and equal Japan-U.S. alliance, it sticks to the maintenance of the bilateral military alliance and avoids discussing security and diplomatic issues. The DPJ will not fundamentally change the LDP policies even if it is elected to power.

This is pro-business politics as usual, ignoring people's well-being
Toyota Motor Corporation said,"The new Prius gas-electric hybrid has been a hot selling item. Thanks to the government tax breaks and subsidies for eco-friendly products, we are increasing our domestic sales forecast for the current fiscal year (ending on March 31, 2010) by 100,000." This is clearly a result of the lobbying by the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren).
