Shii meets with deputy head of CPC International Department

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on September 14 met with Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee for the first time in a year.

The two exchanged views on Japan's new political situation and Japan-China relations.

Shii explained the JCP position of making efforts as an "opposition party of constructive engagement' to work when possible with the incoming Democratic Party-led government.

The two confirmed that the JCP and the CPC have developed a fruitful relationship over the past eleven years, since the normalization of their relations, and discussed ways to further develop bilateral relations.
