4 Kyoto-based religious bodies protest against Obama Four Kyoto-based religious organizations on December 19 sent a letter of protest to U.S. President Barack Obama regarding his decision to send 30,000 more soldiers to Afghanistan, and criticized his Nobel Peace Prize awards ceremonial speech for justifying going to war. They protested against these deeds as acts of betrayal to people who are sincerely calling for peace, and demanded that the increased troop dispatch to Afghanistan and the speech be retracted. The organizations are of Buddhist and Christian faith, based in Kyoto and Shiga, committed to liaison with world peace. - Akahata, December 20, 2009 |
