JCP announces candidates in 46 prefectural constituencies in Upper House election JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on January 8 announced the list of JCP candidates in 46 prefectural constituencies in the upcoming House of Councilors election to be held in July. The JCP already made public its five candidates in the national proportional representation constituency. The JCP set the goal to receive more than 6.5 million votes to ensure that all five JCP candidates, including Ichida, in the proportional constituency be elected without fail. As regards the prefectural constituency election, the party aims to secure a seat in the Tokyo constituency, where Koike Akira, Policy Commission chair (and currently member of the House of Councilors) will stand. The JCP also seeks to regain seats in Hokkaido, Saitama, Kanagawa, Aichi, Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo prefectures where the party had previously held seats. |
