Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 5 talked with new Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua at the JCP head office. Shii recalled that he and Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Hu Jintao agreed two years ago to strengthen relations between the JCP and the CPC in the following three fields: (1) Contribution to the development of relations between Japan and China; (2) Cooperation in the cause of peace in Asia and the rest of the world; (3) Theoretical exchanges between the JCP and the CPC in regard to socialism/communism. Shii stated that the JCP wants to further develop relations between the two parties along these lines. Cheng stated that he had taken part in the process of normalization of relations with the JCP, and emphasized the significance of developing further relations, including in these three fields. - Akahata, March 6, 2010
