JPS to cease print publication of Japan Press Weekly

Since 1956, Japan Press Service, as the only news agency providing information of progressive, democratic movements in Japan, has published the newsletter Japan Press Weekly in English. Japan Press Weekly has introduced the theories and policies of the Japanese Communist Party, summaries of JCP and other progressive forces’ views on national and international political, economic and social problems, and reportage on activities for progressive change in national politics and within Japanese labor, peace and democratic movements.

Today, in response to rapidly developing digital media, it is with regret that we announce that we will cease print publication of Japan Press Weekly with the May 29 issue as the last issue in print.

We will provide news and comments on our website starting in June. Access to our news materials will be offered free of charge. We will also start a free e-mail service to provide the headline article summaries of the week in English. If you want to receive the service, please let us know your e-mail address.

We will continue to publish books and Japan Press Weekly Special Issue in print.

We thank all the Japan Press Weekly readers both past and present for their support of the weekly throughout our 54-year history.
