JCP Kasai urges govft to agree on roadmap to ban N-arms Japanese Communist Party representative Kasai Akira on May 19 at a Lower House committee meeting on foreign affairs demanded that the government of the only A-bombed country should agree on the making of a roadmap for the complete elimination of nuclear weapons. The Main Committee I of the NPT Review Conference in its draft report proposed to initiate international negotiations to consider a roadmap to abolish nuclear weapons, which is a landmark result, Kasai stated. Foreign Minister Okada Katsuya, however, said, gWithout the consent of all nuclear-capable states, it will be difficult to reach a final agreement. Japan cannot easily say that we agree without that.h Kasai in response stated, gJapan should express to the world, eJapan is happy to approve the creation of a roadmap,f and make efforts to persuade nuclear-weapon states to cooperate.h - Akahata, May 20, 2010
